Hockey: Elk girls seeded 3rd, will host Cambridge-Isanti

Elk River was seeded third in the Section 7AA girls hockey tournament and will open with a home game Thursday against No. 6 Cambridge-Isanti.

Forest Lake (13-10-2) got the top seed. The Rangers have a first-round bye. Also in their bracket, No. 4 Grand Rapids-Greenway (12-12-1) will host No. 5 Duluth (9-14-1).

In the other bracket, while the Elk (10-12-3) and Bluejackets (6-18) face off, No. 2 Cloquet-Esko-Carleton (14-8-2) will host No. 7 St. Francis (10-12-3).

Semifinals will be held at high seeds on Saturday, so the Elks would likely play at Cloquet if they beat Cambridge-Isanti. The finals will be played Thursday, Feb. 14, at Fogarty Arena in Duluth.
