Basketball: Elk boys cruise again, 66-41 over Anoka
The Elk River boys posted their third straight lopsided win, 66-41 over the Anoka Tornadoes, there Thursday evening.
Clay Elrod tallied 21 points, shooting 8-for-8 at the line and 6-for-10 from the field. Porter Morrell hit 15 points, made 6 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds. Bryan Edwards notched 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The Elks were 22-for-29 on free shots, and 20-for-40 on field goals, 4-for-4 on three’s.
Now 8-4 in the NWSC and 13-4 overall, their previous two outings were a 60-30 win over Coon Rapids and 76-52 over Edina.
Elrod is averaging 17.1 points and Morrell 16.6.
Anoka fell to 2-11 in conference and 3-13 overall.
The Elks will try knock Brainerd from the unbeaten ranks on Saturday. Brainerd (14-0), a section rival, will host the Elks at 2:30 p.m.
