Michelle Klimstra made 50 saves as the Rogers Royals sprang a nice upset Tuesday, handing No. 4 ranked Orono a 3-1 loss at home.
Orono, 17-5-1 and ranked No. 4 in Class 1A, generated a 51-15 advantage on shots, but only got one past Klimstra, as Rebekah Smith scored in the second period.
Rogers (8-12-4) took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by McKenzie Perna (assisted by Ellie Fellen and Alleah Baltzer) and Kaitlin Braiedy (Emily Antony).
The Royals clung to the 2-1 lead for 25 minutes before Antony scored a clincher with 1:24 to go.
