Hockey: Rogers boys tie Princeton 3-3

The Rogers Royals and Princeton Tigers came out even at 3-3 in an evenly-matched game at Princeton on Tuesday evening.

Princeton had 39 shots to Rogers’ 38, and each team had three penalties, with Princeton notching the only power play goal.

Jake Good and Alexander Lorman scored for Rogers in the first period. Billy Oakes scored for Princeton in the first and Justin Sjoquist in the second.

Both teams scored early in the third — Darrel Voce on the power play for Princeon at :37 and Kyle Ellis for Rogers at 2:54 — with the final 14 minutes being a stalemate.

Travis Brown, Nate Weber and Kyle Korva made assists for Rogers. Blake Ternus stopped 36 of 39 shots in goal. Princeton’s Max Mattson had 35 saves.

Rogers is 5-8-2 and Princeton 11-4-1 after the deadlock.

The Royals will duel MAML at Monticello on Thursday evening.
