Elk River coasted to a 64-40 non-conference win over Monticello at  home on Saturday afternoon.

Clay Elrod led with 24 points, followed by Max Person with 15 and Porter Morrell with 12, as the Elks improved to 9-2 and beat a section opponent.

The Elks led the Magic (4-8) by as much as 41-10.

Hayden Laimer sank 14 points and Will Baumen 10 for the Magic.

Elk River made four 3-pointers (three by Morrell) and 10 of 17 free shots. The Elks, especially Elrod, scored mostly by attacking at the basket.

The Elks will resume conference play  hosting Armstrong on Tuesday.
