The Rogers Royals lost to Big Lake 50-21 there Thursday in what coach Chris Donnay called their best showing of the year.
“The score doesn’t do justice to how well we wrestled,” said Donnay, noting that the score was 32-21 with three matches left.
Connor Larson won 9-7 on a takedown in the last five seconds, Philip Anderson had a pin, Tyler Eicher was up 4-2 when his opponent defaulted, Jordan Lemcke rallied from a 7-2 deficit the third period to win 9-7 with a stalling point, two takedowns and a near fall, and Jake Owens won in overtime with a takedown 4-2.
The Royals (5-6) will wrestle at the Zimmerman Invitational on Saturday.
