Elk River man named outstanding student

Jeremy Green, Elk River, has been selected one of the fall 2012 outstanding students at Metropolitan State University.

Green was chosen outstanding student in the university’s School of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. He graduated last month.

“I’m surprised (to receive the award) but also proud of all the hard work I put into my school work,” said Green, who majored in both law enforcement and criminal justice.

Green is a public safety officer for North Hennepin Community College. He also volunteers for a food shelf and is an assistant teacher at a Brooklyn Park elementary school. He helps coach youngsters in sports and annually participates in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge fundraiser as well.
