Wrestling: Rough outing for Royals against St. Francis and Cambridge-Isanti

The Rogers wrestlers had a humbling outing with losses of  51-14 to St. Francis and 62-9 to Cambridge-Isanti on Friday evening at Cambridge.

Cambridge-Isanti is 12-0 in duals and ranked No. 3 in Class 3A. St. Francis is 3-1. The Royals dropped to 5-5.

“We saw some good things tonight but we learned what we need to work on,” said Rogers coach Chris Donnay.

Kyler Swanson became Rogers career wins leader, beating Lucas Phelps of St. Francis 12-5 at 145 pounds. Swanson’s 105th win eclipsed the previous record of 104 by Todd Klemz.
Swanson (17-5) then got pinned against Cambridge-Isanti.

Philip Anderson and Connor Larson each won twice for Rogers. Donnay said Jordan Lemcke had a  good outing also with a tech fall and a 14-4 loss to No. 4 ranked Cody Skog of C-I.

Next for Rogers is the Brooklyn Center Invitational on Saturday.
