Park reserve offers snowshoeing class

“Snowshoeing Basics: Intro to Snowshoeing” will be offered from 1–4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at Eastman Nature Center near Rogers.

Staff from REI will conduct the presentation on the hour at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. to teach the fundamentals of snowshoeing and answer questions.

Different styles of snowshoes will be available to observe, use and compare. Then try out a pair of snowshoes on a guided hike (weather permitting). The snowshoe hike provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Wear warm, sturdy boots; no tennis shoes.

The fee for Snowshoeing Basics is $5. Participants must be age 5 and older.

Eastman Nature Center is located at 13351 Elm Creek Road, Dayton, in the Elm Creek Park Reserve.
