Garrett Van Eps got the pin at heavyweight, lifting Elk River to a 34-30 win over Champlin Park on Thursday evening.
The Elks had a 28-3 lead before losing six in a row, including a forfeit, to fall behind 30-28.
A decision by Van Eps would have done it, but he made sure with a third-period fall while leading.
The Elks are 2-3 in conference and 3-5 overall after handing the Rebels (2-1, 5-3) their first NWSC loss.
“It was a good win for us,” said coach Paul Nelson. “We were tougher down low and they were tougher up top but Van Eps came through.”
Also winning for the Elks were Garrett Caldon (pin) at 106, Ben Gibas (3-0) at 113, Cole Moenning (9-0) at 120, Evan Caldon (pin) at 132, Kyle Ziemer (5-0) at 138, and Trevor Brink (pin) at 145.
Next for the Elks is the Cambridge-Isanti Invitational on Saturday.
