He was born on a farm in Clear Lake, MN Dec 7, 1919 to Herbert & Bertha Hohlen.
He married Lorraine Nelson in 1940 and raised 4 daughters.
Earl served as a law enforcement officer for 45 years. He loved his work and was well known throughout Sherburne County as the Deputy Sheriff for many many years. He also served as Chief of Police of Elk River and Becker and received several awards for his investigating work and service. He was also an excavator and property developer as well.
Earl was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife Lorraine in 2008. Also by 6 siblings; sisters Doris (Gilyard) Larson, Clara Amundson, Louise Veazey; brothers Ernest, Ted and Herman.
Earl is survived by his daughters; Cindy (Dave) Lindgren and their children Nathan & Kristina, Dianne (Terry) Maddy and their children Shannon, Ryan and Erin, Janice (Alan) Grinde and their children Erik and Laura, Kathy Swanberg and her daughter Kaari; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
But most important to him was his love for the Lord and he enjoyed sharing God’s love with others.
