Hockey: Royal boys lose to Forest Lake 4-1

The Rogers Royals scored the first goal but lost to Forest Lake 4-1 in the fifth-place game at the Schwan Cup Bronze Division tournament on Friday in Blaine.

Spencer Marchand gave Rogers a 1-0 lead at 4:59 of the second period, assisted by Brandon Spah.

Forest Lake (7-5), outshooting Rogers 38-26, took charge after that. John Suess notched two goals (one empty-netter) and Cody Rogala and Jack Schmidt one each.

Blake Ternus stopped 34 of 37 for Rogers and Jessie Garcia 25 of 26 for the Rangers.

Rogers (3-7-1) will resume conference p lay hosting Cambridge-Isanti on Thursday.
