Sherburne County reports two fatal accidents

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a Fridley man was killed on the morning of Dec. 27 during a three-vehicle collision on County Road 15 in Big Lake Township.

The accident occurred just before 10 a.m. near the intersection of 211th Avenue and County Road 15, according to Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott,

Ronald Talbot, 48, of Fridley was pronounced dead at the scene, while the drivers of the other two involved vehicles, Blane Travis, 52, and his spouse Donna Travis, 54, both of Elk River, sustained what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Talbot had been traveling north on 15 while Blane and Donna Travis were both driving their vehicles southbound. The vehicles driven by Talbot and Blane Travis struck each other head-on before Talbot’s SUV made secondary contact with the SUV driven by Donna Travis.

Donna was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, while Blane was transported by ambulance to New River Hospital in Monticello.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

On Dec. 21 an Isanti man was killed when his vehicle collided with a tree in Baldwin Township.

The department received a call at 4:44 a.m. from a passerby who reported finding an adult male trapped in a pickup truck well off the roadway near the intersection of 323rd Avenue and 108th Street. Officers arrived to find the victim, Andrew Englund, 24, deceased in the vehicle.

The time of Englund’s crash and death are unknown, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
