Hockey: Elks lose to Grand Rapids 3-2 in overtime, finish 0-3 at Edina

With an overtime loss to Grand Rapids on Saturday, the Elk River hockey team finished 0-3 at the Edina Invitational.

The Elks (5-4) took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Reggie Lutz and Tim Sanford (power play) in the first period.

Grand Rapids (6-2-1) tied the score on goals by Avery Peterson (power play) and Reid Holum in the second period.  In the overtime, the Elks were in the power play but Peterson scored the game-winner for Grand Rapids shorthanded at 3:48.

Elk goalie Maclean Berglove stopped 17 of 20 shots. Andrew Zerban assisted on both goals. Blake Hillman also assisted on the Sanford goal.

Hunter Shepard in the nets for Grand Rapids stopped 24 of 26.

The Elks lost to Eden Prairie 4-2 and Edina 4-1 on Thursday and Friday. Top-ranked Edina went 3-0 in the tournament.

Next for the Elks is a conference game against Maple Grove to open the St. Louis Park tournament on Thursday.
