A display featuring five songs synchronized to lights is on nightly at two homes in Nowthen.
It runs from 5–11 p.m. each day through Jan. 2 at 18831 Bison St. and 7984 188th Lane, located off County Road 5 just south of the town of Nowthen. The homeowners are Mark and Deb Urista and Bill and Diane Masloski.
People in their cars outside can tune their radios to FM 95.1, where the five songs play in sync with the lights on display.
It takes 13 minutes to hear all the songs, Deb Urista said. “The hippopotamus song is on there, Alvin and the Chipmunks are on there but my favorite is “Amazing Grace,” she said.
While this is the fourth year they have done this, the display has become more elaborate in the last two years, she said. They string all the lights but have a technician to sync the music with the display.
In addition to people in their cars, it has attracted limousines and coach buses full of people.
“We enjoy watching the people,” she said.
Last year when it was unseasonably mild, people would roll down their car windows so they could hear the music and then stand outside.
“It was so nice,” she said. “Kids were dancing. It was just really fun.”
