St. Cloud Tech sank 34 of 37 free shots, with Andy Foley going 10-for-10 in overtime, and defeated the Rogers Royals 78-71 on Tuesday evening in Rogers.
Foley, a junior guard, poured in 35 points, including 18-for-19 at the line. His 10 freebies in the overtime were all the points Tech scored.
Sam Spilles sank 18 points, Cullen Loughlin 15 and Luke Pecka 13 for Rogers (2-4). Gunnar Bloom, who scored nine points, tied the game at 68 with a field goal with 13 seconds left in regulation.
Tech, a section rival, picked up its first win after four losses. The Tigers made eight 3-pointers to Rogers’ five. Rogers was 12-for-18 on free shots so they were outscored by 22 points at the line.
Rogers led 35-30 at halftime and Tech started the second half with a 10-0 run.
Next for Rogers is the annual River Battle matchup with Elk River on Saturday at 5 p.m.
