The Zimmerman wrestlers had three champions and two runners-up in a 10-team tournament at East Ridge on Saturday against mostly 3A teams.
The Thunder finished fourth, with Eagan, East Rdge and Rochester Century ahead of them.
Thunder senior Mitch Robinson was 195-pound champ, pinning Eagan senior Kevin Martinez in the finals in 1:24.
ZHS sophomore Austin May was 170-pound champ with a pin of East Ridge junior Nate Tigges in the finals in 3:56.
Thunder junior Hunter Smith nabbed the 132-pound crown, edging Eagan junior Joe Dubbels 6-4 in overtime in the title match.
Reaching the finals and place second were Thunder freshman Trentin Milless, who lost to East Ridge junior Reid Lyden 15-0 in the finals, and freshman Billy Johann, who lost to Eagan junior Lee Muller 5-0 in the finals.
Chase Rosby and Tristen Petitt each placed third, Kolton Wahl and Kale Cowles each placed fourth, and Mitch Gagne placed fifth.
“We had a great weekend of wrestling for Zimmerman,” said coach Pat Burch, noting that 7th and 8th graders won their pool at an Elk River event as well.
Zimmerman will host Princeton, Litchfield and Albany on Friday.
