Basketball: Royal boys pummel Bemidji 71-47
The Rogers Royals opened their weekend northern trip with a 71-47 victory over the Bemidji Lumberjacks on Friday evening in Bemidji.
The Royals (2-2) will duel Moorhead on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Bemidji and Moorhead are both in Rogers section so the Royals added this trip to their schedule this year.
The Royals held Bemidji (0-3), which scored 73 and 85 points its first two games, to 30 percent field goal shooting with straight man-to-man defense.
Gunnar Bloom netted 13 points while Cullen Loughlin and Cole Murray sank 11 points each and Sam Spilles 10 points.
For Bemidji (0-3), Jeremiah Huseby and Connor McNallan each scored 11 points and Billy Baumgartner added 10.
