Basketball: Simley downs Rogers girls 61-51

The Simley Spartans, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, overtook the Rogers Royals in the second half and won 61-51 on Tuesday evening in Rogers.
Freshman post Abby Kane scored 20 points for the Spartans (4-2). Alexis Boyd-Lockett sank 15 points including three 3-pointers. Aeijah Lockett added 12 points, and Maya DeLao 11. The Spartans made 15 of 17 free shots.
Lindsay Dorr notched 20 points for Rogers (3-2) and Taylor Paulsrud was next with eight.
Rogers led 28-25 at halftime but the Spartans took control in the second half. Royal coach Karlee Anderson noted that Simley had two good posts and two point guards who could handle the ball and shoot.
Rogers will host Bemidji on Friday evening.
