A benefit for Helen McCurry will be Sunday, Dec. 16, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Serum’s, 213 Jackson St., Anoka.
Helen was diagnosed with invasive mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the minor salivary gland, high grade, stage 3. After undergoing major surgery at the University of Minnesota, a long process for recovery is to be expected.
Helen and Mike are longtime residents of the Elk River/Ramsey area. Helen was employed over the years at Federal Cartridge in Anoka, Verizon and Qwest doing telecommunications and system design. She has worked the last year at the Salvation Army in Elk River.
Along with a spaghetti dinner, a silent auction is planned along with a bake sale. Cost to attend is $10, with 60 percent of the proceeds and part of the drink sales going directly to Helen.
