Basketball: Rogers boys lose opener to Anoka 58-57
The Rogers boys lost their opener to Anoka 58-57 Thursday at home as the Tornadoes’ Torrey Ledin hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left and the Royals missed two free shots in the final second.
Rogers rallied from a 30-22 halftime deficit to a seven-point lead with 2:40 left but couldn’t hold on. Anoka applied some pressure, forcing two turnovers that led to key baskets.
Sam Spilles had 14 points and 7 rebounds for Rogers. Cole Murray added 10 points and 7 rebounds, Gunnar Bloom 7 points and 7 assists, and Cullen Loughlin 9 points.
Malcolm Seals scored 12 points and Jordan DeJong 11 for the Tornadoes.
The Royals will host Spring Lake Park on Friday.
