Basketball: Elrod hot as Elk boys top STMA 63-41

Clay Elrod scored 18 points without missing a shot, leading Elk River to a 63-41 win over St. Michael-Albertville there Tuesday evening.

Elrod, 6-foot-5 junior forward, shot 7-for-7 on field goals including two 3-pointers, and 2-for-2 at the line. He also snagged six rebounds.

Senior point guard Porter Morrell notched 13 points and eight assists. Senior post Bryan Edwards added 10 points, shooting 4-for-5.

The Elks were 23-for-41 on field goals and 14-for-17 at the line.

The Elks (2-0) will open conference at Coon Rapids on Thursday.
