Wrestling: Elks 4th at STMA tournament

The Elk River wrestlers placed fourth among 10 teams in the St. Michael-Albertville Invitational on Saturday.

Garrett Caldon at 106, Kyle Ziemer at 132 and Aaron Hannan at 170 were all 3-1 and placed third for the Elks. Cole Moening at 120, Andrew Perry at 126 and Trevor Brink at 145 were 2-2 and placed fifth.

Evan Caldon, a state sixth-place medalist last year, was 1-1 and injury-defaulted from two matches at 138.

STMA, ranked No. 2 in Class AAA, had eight of the 14 champions and captured the team title.

The Elks (0-1) will host Andover in the home opener Tuesday.
