Basketball: Chaska tops Rogers girls 67-54
An encouraging comeback in the second half wasn’t enough as the Rogers Royals fell to the Chaska Hawks 67-54 on Thursday evening in Chaska.
Chaska, with strong post play, dominated the first half 44-18. The Royals got within 11 points in the second half.
“The first half, we played their game,” said Rogers coach Karlee Anderson. “The second half, we played our game. We slowed down our offense and pressured the ball more.”
Chaska was led by Ellie Thompson scored 17 points and Kendall Baab 11.
Rogers center Lindsay Dorr tallied 13 points and did a good job defensively on Thompson, who’s committed to South Dakota State, said Anderson. Sophomore guard Taylor Paulsrud scored 13 points and senior forward Courtney McClay had eight.
The Royals (1-1) will play at Spring Lake Park on Tuesday.
