Hockey: Royal boys tie Sauk Rapids-Rice 2-2 in opener
The Rogers Royals launched 54 shots but had to settle for a 2-2 tie with Sauk Rapids-Rice in their opener at home on Tuesday evening.
After a scoreless period, Rogers took a 2-0 lead in the second period with Jake Good and Branden Cecil each knocking in a goal.
The Storm got a goal from Brandon Duray late in the second period and Ryan Rutar early in the third, to pull even.
William Mortenson making 52 saves for the Storm and Blake Ternus stopped 29 of 31 for Rogers.
Notching assists for Rogers were Alexander Lorman, Tyler Antony, and Cecil.
The Royals, whose first four games are at home, will host Anoka on Thursday.
