Hockey: Champlin Park tops Elk girls 5-3

Champlin Park scored the last two goals and fended off Elk River-Zimmerman 5-3 Tuesday evening, keeping the Elks winless, at Elk River Arena.

The Elks (0-4-1) pulled into a 3-3 tie on eighth-grader McKenna Wesloh’s goal 2:53 into the final period, but Briana Johnson scored at 4:27 and Margie McNamara at 14:42 for the Rebels (3-3).

Also scoring for the Elks were Kaylee Forster (Brenna Simon assisting) and Abby Canton (Forster), the latter on the only power play of the game for either team. Goalie Kim Scott stopped 20 of 25.

McNamara scored twice for the Rebels and Leah Elledge had the other goal. Goalie Maddy Foss scuttled 21 of 24 shots.

The Elks will play at Centennial on Saturday, 3 p.m.
