Geri was born July 13th, 1933 to Elmer Heinrich Karl and Caroline Rose (Bednarz) Fiedler. Geri graduated from Columbia Heights Senior High School in 1951. She was a Miss Columbia Heights Beauty Contest runner-up and was” Sears Beautiful Baby of the Year” in 1934.
Geri was united in marriage to William Edward Hellerstedt, Sr. on July 21st, 1951. They had eight children and lived most of their married years in Elk River, MN.
They owned and operated Camp on the Mississippi in Elk River until 1980. Geri was well known in the Elk River area, especially by many of her children’s friends, whom affectionately called her Mom, amongst many other endearing names.
Geri met her life partner, David Gadola of Mora, MN, on February 22, 1989. Together they spent the next 23 years together, living life to the fullest, vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico every winter. Geri met Dave on a flight to Puerto Vallarta so it definitely was one of their favorite vacation spots. They loved to travel and went to China, Japan, Europe, Hawaii and made several trips to Alaska either by taking their motorhome or on a cruise.
