Dance team: Rogers 2nd in high-kick at opener in Burnsville
The Rogers Dance Team made its season debut with a second-place finish in high kick at the Burnsville Invitational last Saturday.
The RDT unveiled an upbeat “It’s Burlesque” kick routine with 24 girls, the most they’ve ever had in a varsity dance, and finished runner-up behind Farmington. They also debuted their jazz dance called “Here with Me.”
Kayla Felber and Chelsey Hermann are the captains of the 37-girl team.
Meg Leonard is the new head coach, after assisting Megan David, who resigned. Jessica Grover is her assistant, with Cassie Mynahan and Jenna Schrapp heading the junior varsity.
“I was beyond proud of the great performance the girls gave a Burnsville,” said Leonard. “We have the most difficult routines that we have had since I started coaching the Royals in 2007. We have set our high standards right from the get go and the girls come back to us wanting more. I am so excited to work with these girls everyday and see what this season will bring.”
