Jerry Takle named Volunteer of the Month

Jerry Takle has been named the city of Elk River’s Volunteer of the Month for November.

Jerry Takle shook hands with Council Member Paul Motin after being recognized as the city of Elk River’s Volunteer of the Month for November.

Mayor John Dietz said November is veterans month, so it’s appropriate to honor Takle as he is a very active veteran.

“He has dedicated the better part of his volunteer work to the American Legion of Elk River,” Dietz said.

Takle was recognized at the Nov. 19 City Council meeting. Among his volunteer accomplishments:

•Adjutant for Sherburne County Council for 20 years.

•American Legion Post 112 adjutant for 30 years.

•Editor of Legion Post 112 newsletter for 20 years.

•Post 112 membership chair (Post is noted for exceeding membership goals.)

•Past Legion commander and member of executive board.

•Member of the Legion Honor Guard since the early 1980s, serving at military funerals and Memorial Day observances.

•Was an Elk River Municipal Utilities commissioner for six years.

•Past member of the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
