Elk River assault suspect crashes in Wright County
Elk River police were called to the 500 block of Irving Avenue at 9:45 p.m. Nov. 10 for a domestic assault.
The victim was a 22-year-old Elk River woman. She reported that a person that she previously had a relationship with had choked her, according to Elk River Police Capt. Bob Kluntz.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Albertville man, fled the scene before police arrived.
Kluntz said police were later told by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office that the suspect had been involved in a motor vehicle crash in their jurisdiction and had been transported to a hospital.
Man, 22, flees police after alleged assault
Elk River police arrested a 22-year-old Elk River man for an assault that occurred on the night of Nov. 12 in the 19000 block of Ulysses Street.
Officers were called to a residence on that block and were told the suspect had fled the residence, according to Kluntz.
Officers located the suspect a few blocks away and ordered him to stop, at which point the man fled on foot. Officers pursued and eventually caught the man and took him into custody.
The victim stated he had severe pain in his left arm and elbow from being struck twice by a chair, Kluntz reported. The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital by the Elk River Ambulance. The suspect was released to his parents pending assault charges.
Elk River woman altered prescription
A 36-year-old Elk River woman was taken into custody after she allegedly altered a prescription and attempted to get additional medications Nov. 11 from Kemper Drug.
Police arrest three in Wal-Mart thefts
Elk River police were called to Wal-Mart shortly after 8 p.m. Nov. 10 on a report of a shoplifting in progress.
Police apprehended three suspects, a 22-year-old Waite Park man, a 25-year-old Zimmerman woman and a 19-year-old woman with no permanent address, all of whom were charged with theft.
Elk River man, 41, arrested for DWI
A 41-year-old Elk River man was arrested for DWI after a report of a gold vehicle parked along the roadway about 6 p.m. Nov. 11 in the area of Highway 10 and 165th Avenue.
Upon police arrival, the vehicle was gone but another call came in. The same complainant reported the driver was experiencing vehicle issues on 165th near the railroad tracks, Kluntz reported.
The officer responded and observed a male trying to pour gasoline in the vehicle’s tank. When the officer spoke to him about the situation, he noted several signs of intoxication, including his own admission that he had been drinking and driven himself.
Newspaper carrier ‘nipped’ by dog
A 59-year-old Zimmerman woman delivering newspapers reported Nov. 10 she was nipped by a dog while on her route in the 500 block of 5 1/2 Street. Police have contacted the animal’s owner and are following up on the complaint.
Otsego man arrested for DWI after violation
A 25-year-old Otsego man was arrested for DWI shortly before 3 a.m. Nov. 10 after police stopped the motorist, who failed to stop at the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Elk Hills Drive.
Equipment uncovers underage drinking
Police stopped a car for equipment violations shortly after midnight Nov. 10 in the area of Jackson Avenue and Main Street. Three individuals were cited for underage consumption, including an 18-year-old Elk River man and an 18-year-old Elk River woman. A 19-year-old Elk River man was cited for underage consumption and giving a false name to an officer.
Graco booster seat stolen from vehicle
A 30-year-old Elk River man reported to police someone stole a Graco booster seat from his car while it was parked Nov. 10 in his driveway in the 18000 block of Queen Street
Unregistered vehicle taken out of service
A 44-year-old Zimmer-man man was cited for unsafe equipment, no proof of insurance and an unregistered motor vehicle and trailer, which was taken out of service on the evening of Nov. 9 at a stop in the area of Highway 10 and Lowell Street.
Mailbox damage heard by neighbor
Elk River police were called Nov. 5 to the 13500 block of Islandview Drive for a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash report. It was reported that a champagne colored GMC truck had struck a mailbox. A witness, a 55-year-old Elk River woman, reported that she was outside when she heard a “bang.” As the vehicle left the area she saw that her neighbor’s mailbox was knocked down.
Items stolen from Proctor garage
A 49-year-old Elk River man reported that several items were taken from his garage in the 300 block of Proctor Avenue. Two bicycles and assorted tools were reported missing Nov. 5. The complainant had possible suspects; police are investigating.
Maple Grove man found after hit-and-run
A 38-year-old Maple Grove man was cited for his involvement in a hit-and-run accident in the 17800 block of Highway 10. He fled the scene because he had a suspended license and knew he shouldn’t be driving. The victim was a 28-year-old Faribault man.
Husband and wife report possible scam
An Elk River husband and wife reported receiving an unsolicited call Nov. 8 from a person telling them they won a drawing. The caller wanted the couple to get several pre-paid credit cards, but a store manager who worked at Walgreens suggested the elderly couple call the Elk River Police Department because it was likely a scam.
