Racing: Elk River youth nabs 2nd state go-kart championship

Dylan O’Connor, 13, of Elk River has won two consecutive state Go-Kart titles in  the 4-Stroke Junior (age 11-14) class  which is 55-mph plus.

The season at Stockholm Motorsports Park in Cokato consists of 18 races, then state finals, sanctioned by Northland Regional Karting Association.

Dylan works on  his kart with his  dad, Terry.

Since starting at age eight he’s had 61 top-five finishes and 14 firsts, said his mother, Kim.

She added that Dylan will move  up to Adult (15-35) next season, a year early, and has the ultimate goal of  becoming an F1 pro racer when he grows up.
