Sherburne named in disaster declaration

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated 10 Minnesota counties — including Sherburne and Wright — as primary disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by the recent drought.

The delaration also applies to an additional 16 contiguous counties including Anoka, Hennepin, Isanti and Mille Lacs.

This declaration means farmers in these counties are now eligible for emergency loan assistance from the Farm Service Agency  to help cover crop or livestock losses.
