Voter ID proposal waste of time, money

I always thought it was strange, but a bit nostalgic or timeless to just say my name, sign the ledger, and vote. It’s taken me a while to form an opinion on the issue, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a waste of time and money at the moment. Voter ID isn’t going to eliminate the minute amount of fraud that may exist, it only moves it into the arena of the staunch activists who have the time and money to make fake ID’s. And how much time is going to be spent peering at my ID to be sure it’s really me? Will I be denied my right to vote because my hair is longer than when my ID photo was taken? Maybe we want to wait until we have finger print recognition systems or ID chips embedded under our skin or DNA scanners. I think this is one of those things that we don’t need to spend the money on right now. — Bill Strei, Elk River
