Grandmother returns to pay for gas drive offs
A gas station attendant at BP, 19696 Evans St., Elk River reported to police on the morning of Oct. 21 a 71-year-old Bovey woman came into the store to pay for a pair of gas drive offs. One was from Oct. 10 in the amount of $40.36, and the other was for $6.05 on Oct. 20.
The person responsible for the theft on Oct. 20 had fled when an attendant peeled back paper tape on the license plate.
Police believe the woman who paid the charges was the grandmother of the violator.
Elk River man, 27, arrested for assault
A 27-year-old Elk River man was arrested on Oct. 21 after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend down and choked her in the 900 block of Lookout Pl. Elk River Ambulance responded but the victim refused transport.
Another works bomb found in a mailbox
A 49-year-old Elk River woman reported Oct. 21 finding a chemical in her mailbox in the 14000 block of 201st Ave. The mailbox had minimal damage to it.
Traffic stop uncovers stolen automobile
An Elk River officer stopped a motorist for a stop sign violation shortly before 10 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the intersection of Main Street and Gates Avenue. Further investigation led to the arrest of two men for possession of a stolen vehicle. One was a 40-year-old Minneapolis man. The other was a 32-year-old Eden Prairie man.
Repeat trespassers cited this time around
A 33-year-old Mora man and a 44-year-old Cross Lake man were both cited Oct. 20 for trespassing after being found on the property of Aggregate Industries in the 11000 block of 205th Avenue in Elk River. Both had been previously warned about trespassing there.
Pharmacist calls on altered prescription
A pharmacist at Kemper Drug in Elk River called police Oct. 19 after receiving what he believed was an altered prescription. Police have a suspect and are investigating.
Crash instigator cited for failing to yield
A 19-year-old Elk River man was cited for failing to yield after he allegedly made a left turn in front of a vehicle, causing a crash at the intersection of County Road 33 and Holt Street in Elk River.
Walmart reports theft after watching video
Elk River Police were called to the Elk River Walmart on a delayed theft report on Oct. 18 after a loss prevention officer reviewed surveillance video footage that showed a person taking video games. The suspect was seen concealing a phone and 11 PS3 video games and one Xbox game into his grey hoodie. The suspect then left the store and got in a Hyundai Elantra that was waiting outside.
Man cited for 11 grams of marijuana
A 33-year-old Zimmerman man was stopped for having a cracked windshield at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the 400 block of Line Avenue in Elk River. He was eventually cited for possession of 11 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police also seized $1,013 in cash.
Thefts from cars caught on camera
A 30-year-old Elk River man reported on Oct. 17 the thefts from several unlocked vehicles parked in the 18000 block of Queen St. The complainant has a home video security system that caught the suspects on video. He reported that there were three suspects that entered three of his vehicles in the driveway at 3:40 a.m. on that date. Missing was a Pioneer AM/FM CD player. Police are investigating.
Tedd Foss law helps nab drinking motorist
A 19-year-old Big Lake man, who violated the Tedd Foss “move over” law shortly before 2 a.m. on Oct. 19, has been cited for underage drinking, failing to change lanes when passing an emergency vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
The emergency vehicle that the motorist blew by was on Highway 169 near 193rd Avenue in Elk River. The driver was later stopped in the vicinity of Highway 169 and 5th Street in Elk River.
A 19-year-old Elk River man was also cited for underage possession and consumption of alcohol, and an 18-year-old Elk River man was cited with underage consumption.
Elk River woman, 24, arrested for DWI
A 24-year-old Elk River woman was arrested for 4th Degree DWI about 2 a.m. on Oct. 21 after a report of a motorist crossing the fog and center line repeatedly while travelling eastbound on Highway 10 from near County Road 15. An officer located the vehicle and stopped her after observing the vehicle weave within its lane and cross the fog line.
Marijuana smelt but not found in Elk River
Elk River Police were called shortly after midnight on Oct. 21 to the 800 block of Freeport Ave. on a report of the smell of marijuana emitting from an apartment unit in the Elk Ridge Manor. They responded and entered the unit where the smell was allegedly coming from, but there were no sign of marijuana use.
Eden Priarie man, 18, cited for possession
An 18-year-old Eden Prairie man was cited at about 7 p.m. on Oct. 17 for expired registration, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana after a traffic stop in the area of Main Street an Upland Avenue.
Wisconsin motorist was up to no good
A motorist with Wisconsin plates sitting in a vehicle on the night of Oct. 20 behind a closed business in the 18000 block of Freeport north of Holiday gas station was cited for having a small amount of marijuana, paraphernalia and an alcohol bottle.
The woman was from Rice Lake, Wisc. The officer also cited two 14 year old Elk River boys for curfew a 20 year old woman from Rice Lake WI was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of alcohol.
