The Zimmmerman cross country season ended at the Section 7AA meet Thursday as the Thunder girls placed 12th and the boys 16th, among 16 schools, at Princeton Golf Club.

“The team ran real well. We finished a little short of where we hoped but we ran well,” said coach Mike Back.

Nikki Jurik, a sophomore, placed 20th in 16:08.7, leading the Thunder.

The girls team also had senior Megham Tillman 45th (16:45), eighth-grader Kelsie Tufto 67th (17:27), eighth-grader Kelsey Forster 102nd (18:25) and eighth-grader Jackie Charles 110th (21:32).

For the boys, junior Tyler Asmus was 61st (18:21), feeshman Chase Laxdal 70th (18:29), freshman Jordan Jeardon 97th (19:35), freshman Connor Gagne 104th (19:59), senior Tyler Lorden 107th (20:06), senior Travis Carr 108th (20:07), and senior Brandon Wrapsir 109th (20:19).

The Thunder fielded a complete girls team the last three meets, for the first time in the two-year history of the program, by pulling up the trio of eighth-graders.

“The two girls who’ve been running ‘incomplete’ all year were certainly happy to have teammates,” said Back, “and be able to competeĀ  for team points.”
