In response to the recent precipitation across the area, the City of Elk River, per the order of the fire chief, is lifting the local burning ban that was previously implemented on Friday, October 5, 2012.
The burning ban restricted camp and recreational fires as well as the use of fireworks within the city limits.
While recent rainfall has provided must needed relief, residents are still urged to exercise caution when enjoying a recreational fire and to follow any applicable local and state regulations.
The lifting of the ban does not supersede any restrictions currently in place by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, specifically those pertaining to open burning and the issuance of burning permits.
Residents with questions are urged to call the City Hall at 763.635.1000.
