The Zimmerman Thunder took a 40-0 drubbing from the Orono Spartans at home on Friday evening, falling to 4-3 for the season.
“We an unfortunate event today at school,” stated coach Tom Kish, “and our guys tried to play through it, but it proved to be too much of a distraction.
“With a couple days of practice we should be able to get our team back on track and ready to face Cathedral.”
One of the Thunder’s top offensive players was not on the field.
Sam Challgren had touchdown runs of five and one yard for Orono (4-3). Zach Grochowski punched in from seven yards, and another player (name not available) broke a 52-yard run to open the scoring. Orono had one scoring pass, a 6-yarder from Ben Turnham to Koller Adzick.
Zimmerman was limited to 69 yards rushing on 28 carries, and 79 passing.
The Thunder will close the regular season against St. Cloud Cathedral on Wednesday.
