Cross country: Thunder girls 5th, boys 6th in Albany meet

The Zimmerman girls placed fifth among 9 teams and the boys were sixth among 10  teams at the Albany Invitational on Thursday.

The girls had a complete team for the first time all year after six meets as an “incomplete” not counted in team standings.

Nikki Jurik was 7th in 16:3 2and Meghan Tillmann was 9th in 16:40. Also running were middle schoolers Kelsie Tufto (31st), Kelsey Forster (41st), Makenna Upton (55th), and Jackie Charles (58th).

In the program’s two-year history this was only the second time the girls had a full team.

The Thunder boys were led by Tyler Asmus in 21st place with 18:29. Also scoring for the boys were Chase Laxdal (33rd), Jordan Jeandron (37th), Connor Gagne (45th), and Brandon Wraspir (49th).

Next for the Thunder is the Granite Ridge Conference meet next Tuesday at Princeton.
