Cross country: Rogers boys 4th, girls 5th in Mississippi 8

Reed Parent’s third-place finish was the highlight for Rogers as the Royal boys placed fourth and the girls fifth in the six-team Mississippi 8 meet on Thursday.

The Buffalo boys and Monticello girls were team champions in the races at St. Michael Rec Center. St. Michael-Albertville had both individual champs in senior Brendan Sage, 15:43 for 5,000 meters , and sophomore Rachel King, 14:30 for 4,000 meters.

Parent, a junior who placed fifth last year, moved up two places with a time of 16:20. Rogers also had Carl Parent 15th (17:32), Karl Gorecki 26th (17:58), Collin Young 27th (18:05), and Caleb Burke 31st (18:11).

Leading the Royal girls was Jackie Lindfors in 17th place (16:20). Madie Mikolich was 24th (16:49), Kelsie Cox 26th (16:52), Morgan Riley 32nd (17:42), and Sydni Andruskiewicz 34th (17:46).

Next for Rogers is the section meet at Anoka on Thursday, Oct. 25.
