Elk boys will duel Rogers in section opener; Royal girls face Anoka

Elk River soccer will have a girl-boy doubleheader on Thursday to start Section 8AA playoffs.

The Elk River girls were seeded third and will host No. 6 Buffalo at 5 p.m.

The Elk River-Zimmerman boys were seeded second and will host No. 7 Rogers at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Rogers girls, seeded seventh, play at Anoka at 7 p.m.

The girls pairings are No. 8 St. Cloud Tech (2-11-3) at No. 1 St. Michael-Albertville (12-1-3), No. 5 Moorhead (7-6-1) at No. 4 Brainerd (10-1-3), No. 7 Rogers (5-7-4) at No. 2 Anoka (5-9-1), and No. 6 Buffalo (4-9-3) at No. 3 Elks (5-7-4).

The semifinals will be held at high seed on Saturday at 1 or 7 p.m. and the finals next Thursday at high seed, 4 or 7 p.m.

The boys pairings are No. 8 Brainerd (2-12-2) at No. 1 Moorhead (11-2-1), No. 5 Buffalo (7-7-2) at No. 4 St. Cloud Tech (11-4-1), No. 7 Rogers (3-11-1) at No. 2 Elks (7-7-1), and No. 6 Anoka (6-9-1) at No. 3 STMA (10-3-3).

The Elks were 4-1 against section teams, including a 2-0 win over Rogers on Sept. 29.

The semifinals will be held at high seed on Saturday at 1 or 7 p.m. and the finals next Thursday at high seed, 4 or 7 p.m.
