Soccer: Cisneros hat trick helps Sting boys beat Rockford 3-1; playoffs next

Raymond Cisneros scored 16 seconds into the game and added two more goals as Spectrum-Big Lake beat Rockford 3-1 on Thursday in the regular season finale.

“We were was quick off the draw,” said coach Mat Harrison, about the opening goal with Cisneros scoring off a feed from Kalvin Diekman.

While Cisneros went on to earn the hat trick, the Sting defense was led by Eric Ortega, Luis Carbajal, Esteban Teigen, and Ryan Swanson, and goalkeeper Hugo Cantoran played a “spectacular” game, the coach said.

The Sting have a 5-11 record — four more wins than last year — heading into playoffs. Section 5A will start Tuesday, with a foe and site to be determined.
