Cross country: Elk girls nip host team to win Sabre run at Sartell

The Elk River girls edged host Sartell-St. Stephen on a tiebreaker to place first among six teams in the Sabre Run in Tuesday in Sartell.

The Elks had Sabres had 44 points each from the top five runners, with the Elks six runner beating Sartell’s by one place. St. Cloud Cathedral had 80, St. Cloud Tech 100, St. Cloud Christian  118 and St. Cloud Apollo 129.

For the Elks, Rachel Ness placed fourth (16:09), Anna Haugen sixth (16:36), Gabriella Jung seventh (16:38), Maria Brown 13th (16:57) and Kari Radke 14th (17:06). Kailey Erdahl in 18th place (17:17) was the clincher. Gracie Scheid was 21st (17:27).

McKenzie Holt of St. Cloud Christian won in 15:09, followed by Mackenzie Dockendorf of Sartell-St, Stephen and Rachel Eickhoff of St. Cloud Cathedral.

The Elks will host the NWSC meet Thursday, Oct. 11, at Elk River Golf Club.
