Cross country: Elk boys are close 2nd and Lucas Trapp wins at Sartell

Lucas Trapp was individual champion as the Elk River boys placed a close second behind Sartell-St. Stephen in the Sabre Run at Sartell on Tuesday.

Trapp, a freshman, had a duel with St. Cloud Tech junior Wade Kruger, hitting the tape in 17:10.21 to Krueger’s 17:11.84.

The Elks also had senior Ryan Trapp third with 17:33, Breck Hickman seventh (18:01), Nathan Webster 14th (18:33.25) and Alexander Holm 15th (18:33.59).

Sartell-St. Stephen had Blake Anderson, Brandon Yurcczyk, and Taylor Idland placing 3-4-5 as they edged the Elks 36 to 40, with St. Cloud Cathedral at 74, St. Cloud The 82 and St. Cloud Apollo 118.

The Elks will  host the Northwest Suburban Conference meet at Elk River Golf Club on Thursday, Oct. 11.
