Reed Parent of Rogers placed third in the Maroon Division of the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, leading the Royals to 23rd place among 49 teams.
Maroon race is the second-tier competition, with the Gold division for stronger teams, at the University of Minnesota-sponsored event.
Parent, a junior, finished 5K in 17:12 at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, trailing Richfield’s Obsa Ali (16:17) and Wausau (WI) East’s Emmett Stifler (17:08).
Rogers also had sophomore Karl Gorecki 130th, sophomore Carl Parent 151st, sophomore Collin Young 179th, and senior Kyle Narragan 186th.
Monticello, a Mississippi 8 rival, was the Maroon championship team.
The Rogers girls placed 45th among 50 teams, led by eighth-grader Kelsie Cox in 166th place and seventh-grader Hannah Teasdale in 218th.
The Griak is billed as the nation’s largest cross country meet. There are D-I, D-II and D-III college races alogn with two divisions of high school races.
Rogers will hosts its third annual invitational on Tuesday at Fox Hollow Golf Club.
