An onside kick, a blocked punt, and three interceptions helped the Foley Falcons ruin Zimmerman’s homecoming 30-13 on Friday evening.

The Falcons (3-2) also got three touchdown passes by Sam Uderman as they sent the Thunder (3-2) to their second straight conference loss.

“Multiple miscues in the first off led to us  being down 24-7 at the half,” lamented Thunder coach Tom Kish, citing a dropped touchdown pass, the onside kick Foley made and recovered, and the blocked punt and interception deep in Thunder territory with Foley parlaying both into touchdowns.

“Our secondary allowed Foley to complete multiple long passes,” he added. “We couldn’t get a whole lot going in the second half. We’ll have to regroup and get ready for Mora.”

Udermann hit Mitch Keeler from 34 yards, Tyler Beehler from 10 and Kurt Winkelman from 10 for touchdowns while Luke Kelvington punched in from one and five yards out. It would have been a bigger rout if the Falcons hadn’t gone 0-for-5 on conversions.

Collin Ashley, Thunder senior back, dashed 60 yards for a touchdown that cut the Falcon lead to 24-13 in the third quarter. Ashley is the player who dropped the TD pass in the first half, but he snagged four others for 50 yards while carrying four times for 81.

Working against a big Foley defensive line, and playing from way behind, the Thunder took to the air far more often than they want. Cam Korlath had good numbers hitting 15 of 23 for 213 yards, and one touchdown, a five-yarder to Nick Hasslen, but he was picked off three times. Trey Gabrielson had a big night receiving with seven for 101 yards.

The Thunder will play at Mora (1-4) next Friday.
