Tennis: Elks beat Osseo 7-0 in conference finale

The Elk River tennis team beat Osseo 7-0 in the conference finale there on Thursday.

The Elks (14-3 overall) finished 8-2 in the NWSC, tying for second behind Centennial, which went 10-0.

Michaela Schulz completed an unbeaten run through conference matches with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. The other Elk singles all won 6-0, 6-0 — Jen Koehler at No. 2, Alyssa Karavitch at No. 3, and Annika Teske at No. 4.

In doubles, Becca O’Connell and Hadley Purdey won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1; Kathi Opsahl and Lauren Brayden won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2; and Erin Reiner and Rebecca Lieser won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3.

The Elks will close the regular season with on-conference matches at Wayzata on Saturday (10 a.m.) and St. Cloud Tech on Monday. They will have sub-section at home Oct. 8-9.
