Fitness 101 to stay — under new owners and with a new name

by Jim Boyle

It has been announced that Fitness 101 in Otsego is staying open.

Nick Kerzman, a new owner of the facility, told his customers in a letter that the ownership change will allow the facility to continue its eight-year tradition of serving Otsego-area residents. “The reaction from our members and the surrounding community as we look toward a future together has been enthusiastic and welcoming,” Kerzman said.

Kerzman, whose family has worked in the fitness industry for many years, says he is excited about bringing the best lessons learned from that experience to Fitness 101.

“Improvements to (the) fitness facility are already under way,” he said. “Immediate changes include new paint, new carpet, and updating some of the machines. A new name and overall upgrade … will take place during the next few weeks.”

The goal will be to create a comfortable and energetic atmosphere, with all the resources needed to achieve personal fitness goals. The fitness center will continue to offer group classes and concierge personal training services.

The 8,500-square-foot workout facility is in the Otsego Marketplace and has been since 2004. Ron Touchette, broker and CEO of ROCK SOLID Companies in Maple Grove, negotiated transfer of the business to new owner Nick Kerzman.

Otsego Marketplace is managed by ROCK SOLID Management. Touchette recognized the regional importance of the fitness facility, and stepped in personally to ensure it remained in the community. All current memberships are valid through their original expiration dates, and will continue to be honored during the transition.

“Kerzman is excited about becoming part of the Otsego community,” Touchette said.
