Abby McDonald delivered the first goal and assisted on the second as Elk River rolled 3-0 over a winless Osseo Orioles squad at  home on Wednesday evening.

McDonald, senior midfielder, got the lone goal of the first half, a floater into a stiff wind that dropped sharply and landed just behind the startled goalkeeper.

Logan Daulton notched her eighth goal of the year on a header early in the second half, set up by McDonald’s crossing pass, off a corner kick.

The clincher in the 73rd minute was an “own” goal as Jenna Kively took a shot off a corner kick that was bumped into the net by an Osseo defender trying to clear it.

The Elks (2-3-1 conference, 4-4-2 overall) posted their second straight shutout (the last one a tie with Park Center).

Osseo (0-5-1 conference, 1-6-2 overall) came out strong for a few minutes in the second half  and ended up with a 9-8 edge in shots. Elk goalie Brienna Dehkes made a couple saves on high, hard shots.

The Elks will play at Armstrong on Thursday.
