The Centennial Cougars handed Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman a 110-76 loss on Thursday evening in Circle Pines.
“Centennial has four or five good swimmers,” said Elk coach Colleen Killpatrick. “We swam well. They won a lot of close races.”
The Elks won the medley relay (Emma Johnson backstroke, Courtney Grunewald butterfly, Allison Schwab breaststroke, Taylor Odegard freestyle) to open the meet. They did well in the sprints as Schwab won the 50 and Jessica Young won the 100, with Odegard second and third, respectively.
Grunewald won the individual medley. Divers did well with Jennifer Hunt second and Brianna DeValk third. Young was also second in the 200 free.
A couple big events for Centennial were the 500, where they went 1-2-3, and the 400 freestyle, where they nipped the Elks by .02 in a rousing final event.
ERZ will host Andover next Thursday.
