Cross country: Elk girls win St. Francis Invitational again

The Elk River girls had six of the top 11 runners in winning the St. Francis Invitational on Thursday.

Elk freshman Rachel Ness took second (15:57) and eighth-grader Kennedy Warner was right behind her in third (15:58) at The Ponds Golf Course.

Elk senior Anna Haugen was sixth (16:33), eighth-grader Maria Brown eight (16:37), sophomore Gabriella Jung 10th (16:45) and junior Kari Radke 11th (16:49). Junior Kailey Erdahl was 16th (17:02) among 80 runners in the 11-team meet.

Abigale Forsman, Chisago Lakes senior, ran away from the field to win in 15:25.

The Elks had 29 points, followed by St. Paul Highland Park 56, St. Anthony VillageĀ  93, Chisago Lakes 108, Spectum 128, St. Francis 161, Spring Lake Park 235, Cooper 242, BlaineĀ  249, Cambridge-Isanti 249 and Fridley 283.

Next will be the Mounds View Invitational on Friday, Sept. 21.
